AMMAN — His Majesty King Abdullah, the Supreme Commander of the Jordan Armed Forces (JAF), on Monday inaugurated the Princess Iman military housing project in Zarqa Governorate.
Established in response to His Majesty’s directives, the housing project seeks to provide comfort, stability and a decent living for military personnel, a Royal Court statement said.
It also seeks to alleviate servicemen’s financial burdens and lessen the travel troubles many of them have had to endure, especially those originally living in remote cities and villages.
King Abdullah toured and checked some of the residential apartments, whose areas range between 126 to 143 square metres. He was accompanied by Chairman of the Joint Chief-of-Staff Gen. Mashal Al Zaben.
Designs and plans of the project, comprising 400 apartments in 25 buildings, were drawn up in line with modern architectural standards as the task was undertaken by the Military Housing and Public Works Directorate, in cooperation with a specialised company, the statement said.
Moreover, the project site is conveniently located near main highways, public amenities and JAF military camps.
The project is one of the King’s initiatives to secure housing for the army personnel. New projects such as Princess Salma 2 and 3 as well as Al Karameh project are scheduled to be completed in the coming stage. These will provide better housing for the army personnel in the various governorates across the Kingdom.
Several senior army officers and beneficiaries attended the inauguration ceremony.
