AMMAN –  Hussein continued to lose points as Wihdat slashed the lead following Week 18 and two postponed matches played ahead of Week 19 of the CFI Jordan Professional Football kicking off on Friday.

Hussein lost the chance to bolster their lead and retain the title early on when Faisali scored in injury time ending the match 1-1 as with other matches last week with Ma’an holding Ramtha and Shabab Urdun tying Wihdat 1-1, Ahli vs Aqaba 0-0, Salt beating Jazira and Sarih defeating Mughayer Sarhan 1-0. In postponed matches, Jazira upset Hussein holding them 1-1 and Wihdat beat Sarih 3-1.

This week,  it’s Ramtha vs Salt and Shabab Urdun vs Mughayer Sarhan on Friday, while on Saturday Hussein vs Ahli, Aqaba vs Wihdat, Sarih vs Ma’an, Faisali vs Jazira.

Wihdat’s Mohannad Simreen is still the top scorer with 12 goals with Sarih’s Mohannad Akash second with 10, Salt’s Mohammad Abdul Mutalleb 8 and Wihdat’s Ibrahim Sabra 7.

Following the league break in March for national team qualifiers, Hussein’s lead has been slashed after consecutive draws while Wihdat who lost the Jordan Super Cup final to Hussein  and the Shield final to Salt, are trying to keep their title chances alive.

This year, Hussein and Wihdat exited the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Asian Champions League (ACL) Two in the Round of 16. Locally, the Jordan Cup is still up for grabs with the semifinals set up Faisali vs Hussein and Wihdat vs Ahli.
